Fourth stolen car arrest in nine months for Oxnard man
OXNARD, Calif. - For the fourth time in nine months police have arrested the same man for having a stolen car.
Marco Anthony Cerda, 21, was arrested Sunday around 9 p.m. in the area of Pleasant Valley and Cypress Roads. Officers were tipped off when they saw the car driving with no rear license plate.
Cerda was one of three people in the car. He was detained after walking away from the vehicle in a random driveway and dropping the key. Officers checked the VIN on the vehicle and determined it was stolen.
The 21-year-old has a history of stolen car charges and was on probation for those crimes, according to Oxnard police. In the past nine months Cerda has been arrested for four separate stolen cars, including one less than a month ago. Due to the Coronavirus State of Emergency, Cerda was released on $0 bail, which applies to most misdemeanors and some low level felony crimes.
Because of Cerda’s criminal history officers have applied for an exemption to the $0 bail order.
