Oxnard man arrested on firearm and narcotics charges

Oxnard police located a loaded handgun and methamphetamine on suspect Ricardo Sandoval.

OXNARD, Calif. - Oxnard police arrested a man after he tried to hide a loaded firearm and drugs from police Friday evening.

Officers received a report of subjects drinking and causing a disturbance around 8:56 p.m. on Friday.

They responded to the 200 block of Cuesta Del Mar to investigate. As they patrolled the area on foot, officers said they saw a suspect identified as Ricardo Sandoval duck out of view and heard him discard something.

Police contacted Sandoval and located the loaded firearm which he had attempted to hide from them. They also found methamphetamine on Sandoval's person.

Ricardo Sandoval, 21, of Oxnard.

Sandoval was arrested and charged with multiple firearm and narcotics related charges.
