Man charged in deadly Hwy 154 crash appears in court

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The man charged in a deadly crash on Highway 154 that killed a Solvang mother and her two young children appeared in court Friday.

John Roderick Dungan, 28, faces three murder charges in the October 25 crash.

He previously pleaded not guilty.

Investigators say he intentionally drove into oncoming traffic near Cold Spring Bridge causing the crash.

A mother and her two children were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 154.

Vanessa Goss Bley, 34, and her children, Lucienne Bley Gleason and Desmond Bley Gleason, were killed in the crash. Lucienne was two years old. Desmond was four months old.

Dungan was hospitalized in critical condition after the crash, but has been held in Santa Barbara County Jail without bail since he was released from the hospital.

He is due back in court on February 14 to set a preliminary hearing.
