Santa Maria man was arrested under suspicion of DUI after crashing into parked car

Santa Maria Police arrested one man under suspicion of driving under the influence of a drug stimulant Thursday afternoon.

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Santa Maria Police Departmet arrested one driver under suspicion of DUI after he crashed into a parked car while driving at high speeds in northern Santa Maria.

The incident took place in the area of North Blosser Road and Atlantic Place at 1:44 p.m. on Thursday.

Santa Maria Police said the man was driving his car at high speeds when it appears he lost control and crashed into another car parked on the side of the road. The parked car was pushed 30 feet away into the nearby Santa Maria Riverbed.

The driver was described as a 38-year-old adult male from Santa Maria. Officers performed sobriety tests upon arriving at the scene of the crash and determined he was driving under the influence of a drug stimulant.

The driver is being arrested under suspicion of DUI of drugs. He will be booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the crash.
