AP: Biden wins California

The Associated Press is calling the State of California in favor of Vice President Joe Biden.

The news agency declared Biden the winner of the state's 55 electoral votes just moments after polls closed at 8 p.m.

The results of the vote are not surprising, as California is considered a foothold for the Democratic Party and has consistently gone blue since the 1980s.

The Associated Press typically reports results as they happen based off of exit polls and other projection methods.

The race for the White House remains tight as President Trump picked up key battleground states in the early evening. California's 55 electoral votes are the most allotted to any state.
