SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors approved funding from multiple sources to restore the Cayucos Veterans Memorial Hall.

The board said funding for the project included state grants, community donations, and bond sale revenue and is expected to take 14 to 18 months to complete.

Supervisors accepted an additional $4.8 million in grants, having previously accepted $2.2 million in donations.

“Rehabilitating this important historic site will help us preserve a key era in our county’s history for the next generation, not just for Cayucos, but for all of us,” said Public Works Deputy Director John Waddell.

The Cayucos Veterans Memorial Hall was constructed in 1873 and serves as a community and event center, before being classified structurally unsound in 2016.
