2 dead after assault, police shooting in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco authorities are investigating the deaths of two men after an incident in which police responded to a report of an assault in progress and officers fired shots. The incident occurred late Thursday. San Francisco police have not said whether the deaths were caused by the police shooting and did not release any more information Friday. A police spokesperson said one man died at the scene and the other at a hospital. In Fresno, police were still searching for a robbery suspect who is believed to be holed up in a strip mall. A deputy opened fire Thursday night after an off-duty deputy saw three robbery suspects at a shopping center.
