United Way partners with musical duo to launch Holiday Gift Drive

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. -- United Way Santa Barbara County is partnering with UCSB Arts & Lectures and the musical duo She & Him to launch the 2021 Holiday Gift Drive.

She & Him is a music duo that consists of holiday songs from indie-folk artist M. Ward and actress/singer-songwriter Zooey Deschanel.

They will be performing on December 2 at the Arlington Theatre.

The United Way's 2021 Holiday Gift Drive will launch at the same time on December 2 at 8 p.m.

The holiday gift drive will provide gifts to local children and families during the holidays.

Guests arriving can bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift card to donate before enjoying the show.

The donated toys can be for both boys and girls, ages ranging from infants to teens. Gift cards can be donated in any amount. Monetary donations can be made on-site to United Way.

“The past two and a half years have been extremely hard for many children and families in our community due to the financial struggles that accompany COVID-19. We are very grateful to She & Him and UCSB Arts & Lectures for this important opportunity to bring smiles to children and families in need just in time for the holidays,” said Steve Ortiz, President and CEO of UWSBC.

The organization says commonly requested toys include Amazon gift cards at $20, Legos, Barbies, Pokemon Cards, Arts & Drafts, bracelet making kits, sweatshirts and board games.

The She & Him performance is part of UCSB's Arts and Lecture 2021-2022 Creating Hope programming.

Tickets for the public are from $42 to $128.50, UCSB students can buy tickets for $23.50.
