Sunday Evening Forecast Oct 3rd
Another beautiful day courtesy of a moderate and slowly fading offshore flow. We are seeing a slight increase in the sea breeze or onshore flow as we head in to Monday with cooling likely. The interesting and challenging part to Monday's forecast is the influx of moisture coming up from the south. We could see some sprinkles, especially in our southern areas and there is even an outside chance for thunder! We will keep a close eye on local radars all day with fingers crossed for sprinkles and hopefully no dry lightning!
An area of low pressure is drifting slowly toward California from just off Baja Mexico. This can create fits for our weather forecast computer which has difficulty dealing with this type of atmospheric pattern . For now we do see a slight chance for sprinkles on Monday and Tuesday. Best chances would be the farther south you go and temperatures will drop as well. By mid week, we should see near normal afternoon highs with partly cloudy skies as another early season low pressure system approaches from the north. The system doesn't look overly impressive at this point, but another chance for showers should come in to play by late Thursday and linger in to early Saturday. The good news is that this will aid fire fighters that are still dealing with the very large fires across the Sierra as well as up in extreme Northern California. Hopefully some of this will find its way south and in to our region! As the system passes to our east, northwest winds and clearing skies will be expected along with cool to mild temperatures through next Sunday.
