A summer reopening means people are finding relief from the heat again

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - At this time last year, places such as the movie theaters, public libraries, and other cool-off spots were shut down. This summer, people are finding their way back.

A heat wave is striking the Central Coast this summer, causing people to find places to simmer down. 

Last summer, the pandemic caused people to stay inside their homes, which may not have even had air conditioning. 

Now, with public sites fully up and running for the first time in two summers, there are once again easy escapes from the summer heat.
