Three arrested for stealing six Chevy pickup trucks in one night in Oxnard

Oxnard Police Department

OXNARD, Calif. - Oxnard police arrested three suspected truck thieves after six Chevy Silverado's disappeared from the city overnight.

Officers said Auto Theft Detectives Enrique Alvarez and Greg Utter were notified of the crime on Friday.

The detectives conducted a follow-up investigation which led them to the Casa Via Mar Inn in Port Hueneme. There, they spotted two of the stolen pickup trucks parked at the inn.

Detectives then determined that a group sitting in a nearby car was associated with the crime spree.

Police contacted three people in the car, all Los Angeles County residents, and conducted a search of the vehicle. Officers said they located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and battery-powered tools commonly used to steal catalytic converters.

As the investigation continued, police were able to locate two more stolen pickup trucks near the inn. In total, four of the six Chevy trucks were found and returned to their registered owners.

The three LA County residents were arrested on drug and theft charges, including possession of stolen vehicles, burglary tools and warrants.

The police department said the detectives assigned to this case are attached to the Property Crimes Unit. The Property Crimes Unit is made up of detectives that are committed to solving and preventing property-related crimes in the city of Oxnard.
