Ventura County Animal Shelter reopens to the public

VENTURA, Calif. – This weekend the Ventura County Animal Shelter will reopen back up to the public.

This means on-site dog and cat adoptions will be available to those who want to come in and visit pets in person without an appointment.

This feature will only be available on the weekends. Those who are interested will have to arrive at the shelter by 9 a.m. and put their name down a waiting list. Shelter officials will then start calling people in one by one at 1 p.m.

“When it is you turn we will have an adoption counselor to the animals that you signed up for and we will have you play with them and then adopt them if you choose too,” said Randy Friedman, who is the shelter's marketing manager. “We are really excited about opening the shelter back up to on-site adoption.”

Before the reopening, the shelter was doing virtual pet adoptions and said it was going great. Shelter officials are happy to bring people back into the facility on the weekends.
