Drive-thru sales in Orcutt continue to thrive during coronavirus pandemic

ORCUTT, Calif. - If you’re planning to order a meal at a drive-thru or take-out in Santa Maria and Orcutt, chances are you’re going to be waiting in line.

“Extremely frustrated. I got to get back to work but I also got to get my food," said drive-thru Helen Bales.

Helen Bales is in a time crunch and is trying to enter a long line of cars at Orcutt Burgers.

”The lines have been too long for me to even be able to get lunch during work,” said Bales.

Managers at Orcutt Burgers say sometimes cars will wrap all the way around the building during rush hour.

“The lines have gone all the way to AutoZone. Sometimes there are like 20 to 25 cars in the drive-through,” said Vanessa Munos of Orcutt Burgers.

Managers at Orcutt Burgers say drive-thru and take-out has increased significantly in customers during the past month.

Jim Evans is one of several customers who feels safer with drive thru and take-out during the pandemic.

"It’s convenient and it’s safer than going inside I think," said Evans.

Not matter how long the lines are, customers say they plan to come back for another to-go meal.
