GOLETA, Calif. - A portion of Hollister Avenue was closed in Old Town Goleta as sheriff's deputies searched for a person allegedly involved in an assault on Saturday.

A man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to survive, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

Hollister was blocked off from Kinman Avenue to Dearborn Place next to the 217 while deputies searched.

Just after 1 p.m., Hollister was reopened to traffic in both directions.

One block of South Kellogg Avenue north of Hollister remained closed for the investigation.

Kellogg was reopened around 2:02 p.m.

Sheriff's officials encourage nearby residents to keep an eye open and report any suspicious activity to their non-emergency line at 805-683-2724.
