Bret Heinemann

Atascadero City Council

Why are you running for office?: Citizenship. It is up to qualified citizens to serve on the city council to govern the city with responsibility to ensure that the needs of today are met and will continue to be met in the future.
What makes you qualified for the job?: My interest and willingness to take on the challenges the council will face. I’ve been a resident of Atascadero since 1971 which has given me an understanding of the local economy.

My educational background: Four years of parochial school, Atascadero High School, an AA in Electronics Technology from Cuesta College, a BA in History from CSU Fresno with minor in political science.
My understanding of character and values like endurance, honesty, respect, responsibility, integrity, and trust.
What are your two main priorities if you win?: 1. A strong, vibrant economy & fiscal responsibility.

2. Character & Values.
How will you interact with other governments?: In interacting with other governments I will do so with the citizens of Atascadero in mind, because that is my job
What are your plans to help overcome COVID-19?: Use my understanding of character and values to encourage individuals to stay connected with family, friends and others with social and physical health and safety in mind.
Encourage employment and business that is less vulnerable to COVID-19 type situations.
Which two issues are most important to you?: Economy and character, because we all need a means by which we can afford to live here.
Our character is important because our values define who we are and if we sell out our values what have we left?
