SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria police are investigating an armed carjacking.

The police department tweeted just after 12 a.m. Sunday saying officers were investigating the armed carjacking near the intersection of Lolita Lane and Lincoln Street, near the Western Village Shopping Center off Broadway.

"Serious crimes taking place near the end of a 300+ call for service day. Criminals don't take days off even during these trying times," said the police department in a tweet.

About 30 minutes earlier, police announced they were investigating a triple stabbing in the city.

No other information was immediately available about the carjacking.
