Oxnard police arrest 2 repeating offenders in stolen car

OXNARD, Calif. - The Oxnard Police Department arrested two repeating offenders in a stolen car.

It happened on Sunday afternoon, around 3:30 p.m. A patrol officer observed a stolen blue Ford Explorer  near Channel Islands Boulevard and J Street.

There were two people in the car. Police then conducted a high risk traffic stop in the west alley of J Street, near Channel Islands Boulevard.

The driver initially provided a false name. He was later  identified as Christian Guzman, 24.  The passenger was identified as Birydiana Delgado, 24.

A records check showed both are currently on probation for auto theft. During a search of the car, officers found a stolen bicycle that was taken in Santa Barbara County.

During a search of Guzman, a DMV certicifate of title associated with a different Ford vehicle was found on his person. Guzman could not provide any reasonable explanation for being in possession of the title.

Guzman was arrested for felony auto theft, felony receiving stolen property, providing false information to an officer, theft of lost property, and an enhancement charge for having prior felony convictions for stealing vehicles, as Guzman has three prior felony arrests for auto theft.

Passenger Delgado was arrested for a felony charge of receiving stolen property.
