Truck drivers busy-as-ever during coronavirus shutdown
SANTA MARIA, Calif - Add truck driver to the list of essential workers everyone should be thanking during the coronavirus crisis. While many workers are now at home, they keep on truck'in!
Drivers continue to deliver everything the community needs to local stores that remain open. The demand for product in grocery stores, big box stores and others are at an all-time high. Local truckers can feel the importance of their work.
"Important sure for people, they need some products," Denis Lebrun said. "If we're not there, nobody can eat. That's the important thing we have to do, its my job, I'm a truck driver so I gotta do it."
Some of the big rig drivers we found in Santa Maria say they are working around the clock, with few days off. Business booming so much for truck companies, many are hiring new drivers.
