Goleta man arrested on suspicion of beating, threatening underage girlfriend
GOLETA, Calif. - A Goleta man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of beating his juvenile girlfriend.
On Thursday, March 19, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies responded to home in Goleta for a report of a missing juvenile girl.
Two hours after the sheriff's office received the report, the juvenile girl returned to her home with multiple "serious injuries," according to a press release. She was treated at the hospital for her injuries and has since been released.
The girl told deputies that her 21-year-old boyfriend had severely beaten her, brandished a weapon and threatened her.
The girl's boyfriend was identified as Gilberto Guajardo of Goleta.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Guajardo but deputies were unable to locate him.
The sheriff's office was eventually able to locate Guajardo in Ventura County and on Tuesday he was arrested.
Guajardo is awaiting felony charges for domestic violence with injury, making terrorist threats and counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
His bail is $500,000.
