Arrests made in Sex Registrant Compliance Operation
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Several local law enforcement agencies and dozens of officers took park in a Sex Registrant Compliance Operation in northern Santa Barbara County.
On Tuesday, officers went to twenty different locations in Santa Maria, Orcutt, Guadalupe, and Los Alamos to check in on 21 total parolees and people on probation. Their homes were also searched.
The goal was to make sure that registered sex offenders are in compliance with their requirements for release.
Officers arrested seven people for parole or probation violations.
Two people who were arrested also have pending charges for additional crimes, including possession of child pornography.
The compliance operation was conducted by members of the Santa Maria Police Department, California State Parole, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Santa Barbara County Probation Department, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
