Police arrest homeless man who broke into home in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. - Ventura police arrested a homeless man after he broke into a woman's house in Ventura on Tuesday morning.

Police arrested Darin Jones, 47, for trespassing in an inhabited dwelling, prowling, possession of drug paraphernalia and delaying/resisting arrest.

On Tuesday morning around 7:36 a.m., a resident on the 200 block of Jody Lane heard noises in her residence and found the suspect trespassing inside of her house.

The woman immediately left her home as she called 911.

Ventura police patrol officers and police dogs immediately responded to the scene.

After contacting the woman, officers attempted to call the suspect out of the house but the trespasser refused to cooperate.

A team of officers and a police dog searched the house.

Officers found Jones and took him into custody.

A review of the Ventura County Superior Court website showed that Jones has been arrested numerous times in the past three years for various charges including possession of a controlled substance while armed with a weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of controlled substances, theft and possession of stolen property.

He is currently on probation for possession of a stolen vehicle.

No one was injured during the incident.
