SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Volunteers are needed for the 2020 Homeless Point-In-Time Count in Santa Barbara County.

Organizers have said they were looking for about 250 volunteers to help count each homeless person in the county.

They say the count is important because it's a way for people to learn about the homelessness crisis, and it also decides how much federal and state funding comes in to help the homeless.

Trainings will take place this month in Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Goleta, Isla Vista, Lompoc, and Santa Maria.

The count itself is set for 5:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29.
