Eviction leads to arrest, large amount of drugs found near property in Ventura County

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. -- Ventura County Sheriff's Office and Ventura Police Department arrested a man found in possession of large amounts of drugs near an evicted property in Ventura County on Tuesday.

Officers arrested Chris Delapp, 28, for possession of narcotics for sales.

Around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Ventura Police Department Command Center received a call for assistance from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office Civil Eviction unit on the 200 block of South Evergreen Drive.

Deputies from the unit were conducting an eviction of the property.

During their attempt in evicting the illegal occupants, numerous subjects fled from the home and refused to follow commands.

Ventura police patrol officers arrived on scene within minutes and detained several subjects.

While identifying the individuals involved, officers made contact with Delapp.

Delapp was on probation for narcotics violations.

Officers contacted Street Crimes Unit Narcotic Detectives who responded to the residence.

Officers continued their investigation by conducting a probation search of Delapp's vehicle.

Officers found a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin and Xanax.

Delapp was also in possession of a large sum of money and items used for the sales of narcotics.

Officers took Delapp into custody without incident.

He was booked at the Ventura County Jail.

Delapp's prior convictions include Possession for sale of a controlled substance and Resist, Obstruct and Delay of a Peace Officer.
