Repeat DUI felon arrested after ramming Santa Maria police car

The Santa Maria Police Department made a repeat DUI arrest Wednesday night.

Santa Maria Police attempted to stop a vehicle that was driving without headlights. The driver, 30-year-old Andy Mena, led officers on a pursuit where he rammed into a police cruiser. Mena then crashed into the back of a vehicle that was stopped at a red light at Blosser and Betteravia road.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Marian Hospital after complaining of being in pain.

According to Santa Maria Police, Mena has at least three prior convictions for DUI, driving with a suspended license that resulted from a DUI, and had an outstanding felony warrant. He was taken to Santa Barbara County Jail for these charges, as well as felony DUI causing injury.
