Local rescue mission offers free meals to more than 50 people in need during extreme heat
Volunteers served free meals and cold drinks to more than 50 people Tuesday afternoon.
The two organizations also offered showers and even free clothes.
Those who stopped by were grateful, just to get out of the heat, enjoy a warm welcome and a cool cup of lemonade and more.
“It means a lot to me. They’re providing for those who don’t have much. It means a lot because they’re doing something for the homeless and for those that don’t have much as well,” said visitor Aaron Sanchez.
Organizers said this is the most visitors they’ve seen in several weeks, and they hope those in need will continue to come by for a free meal at Cornerstone Church again next Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
