Big Splash! UCSB is ranked #1 in men’s water polo

It’s good to be number one!

40 years ago UCSB won the national championship in men’s water polo and this year they are on top again.

For the first time in program history the Gauchos achieve a number one ranking during the regular season in the Collegiate Water Polo Association poll.

UCSB is off to a 13-0 start which includes wins over Pac-12 schools Cal, USC and Stanford. Both USC and Stanford were ranked No. 1 when the Gauchos defeated them.

The Gauchos play San Jose State this Friday at the SoCal Invitational in Los Angeles which featured the top sixteen teams in the country.
