17-year-old tagger arrested in Port Hueneme with loaded handgun

A 17-year-old male juvenile was arrested Monday evening after he was found in possession of a loaded handgun.

Port Hueneme Police Department responded to the 2500 block of Yardarm Avenue for a report of a group of juveniles drinking and disturbing in an alley. Officers found a group of six to eight people who al ran in different directions when they saw police.

One of them tried to discard a loaded .357 revolver in front of an apartment. An officer saw this and the gun was recovered at the scene and the suspect was arrested without incident.

Investigators determined that the 17-year-old was tagging with spray paint when officers arrived. He was arrested and transported to juvenile hall. He faces possible charges of possession of a loaded handgun, vandalism, and gang enhancements.
