Commercial fishing boat catches fire off of Ventura shore

A commercial fishing boat caught fire Tuesday afternoon about 8 miles off the Ventura shore.

The 50-foot steel fishing vessel was operated by one person who was uninjured.

A good Samaritan vessel named Emerald Sea was the first to respond to the area and helped bring the boat to safe harbor. TowBoatUS Ventura & Channel Islands also responded to assist with the burning boat and captured images of the fiery scene.

According to TowBoatUS, no pollution was released and no one else was injured.
