Studying the economic impact of Fiesta: How you can help

The 94th year of Fiesta in Santa Barbara will be studied for the first time to put a number on the event’s economic impact.

Never before has the city or Old Spanish Days taken a deep dive into the money surrounding Santa Barbara’s biggest and grandest event. Community studies have been done before but this year Old Spanish Days and city tourism officials are partnering with the UCSB Economic Forecast to compile real tangible numbers.

At all Fiesta events this year, visitors will see UCSB Economic Forecast team members out taking surveys. Asking people simple questions to compile the study. Anyone attending Fiesta or any concurrent events, residents and nonresidents of Santa Barbara are encouraged to fill out a survey. The survey is also available online here.

Former La Presidente Ronda Henderson and Dr. Peter Rupert joined The Morning News and FOX 11 to talk about the study.
