Grover Beach police officers released from hospital after violent attack, suspect in jail
Trey Anthony Wilson, 23, is behind bars and faces criminal charges following a violent attack on two police officers in Grover Beach.
The two officers were taken to the hospital but have since been released. “One officer is expected to make a full recovery while the other officer will require additional care and treatment,” wrote the Grover Beach Police Department on their Facebook page.
Wilson was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries and released.
Grover Beach police say the two officers were conducting a routine security check at the local parks just after 2 p.m. on July 2 when they found Wilson inside the men’s restroom at Mentone Basin Park doing drugs. When the two officers attempted to arrest Wilson, the 23-year-old Grover Beach resident resisted and attacked the officers seriously injuring them, authorities say.
During the struggle, police say Wilson escaped to a nearby neighborhood but was eventually located and taken into custody by law enforcement that involved the Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach police departments as well as the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office with K-9 units.
Wilson’s charges include: Resisting a police officer, serious battery on an officer, resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, and two outstanding arrest warrants.
