Man flown to Santa Barbara hospital after becoming pinned underneath tractor

A man suffered major injuries Monday afternoon after the tractor he was driving flipped over pinning him underneath.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies and County firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

An “extensive extrication” was required from firefighters to remove the man, said to be in his mid 30’s, from underneath the tractor, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni.

A fire official on scene said the extrication took approximately 23 minutes to complete.

A Calstar medial helicopter flew the man to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Zaniboni said the man suffered major injuries.

The crash was reported at about 4:40 p.m. in the 8300 block of Graciosa Road near White Hills Vineyard in an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County just south of Orcutt.

The rollover crash is under investigation.
