Olive Mill bridge repairs now scheduled for July

The mud damaged Olive Mill bridge back in January is now in line for a significant repair job in mid-July.

Portions of the railing were broken up by the massive mudflow, and pieces fell to the freeway where the area was flooded with debris.

The area has been cleaned up and the bridge now has K-rail for safety purposes.

It is very popular with those walking to and from beach neighborhoods, the waterfront, and Coast Village Road.

Business owners and CalTrans have been discussing the four month project hoping to have it taking place without a conflict. Sewer work linked to the new Miramar Hotel and heavy equipment necessary to complete a new mixed use building would present a problem if they all took place while the bridge was worked on.

When the project takes place, traffic will be rerouted around to San Ysidro Road.
