‘Canndescent’ CEO banking on State Street location for cannabis sales

Canndescent’s CEO Adrian Sedlin said it needs a flagship store in Santa Barbara to go with its Santa Barbara company headquarters.

In November the Harvard educated Montecito resident said he wanted to offer Montecito and Hope Ranch moms an alternative to Xanax.

Sedlin wants to open a store at 1103 State street that will offer products that look like designer brands.

The company already sells color-coded cannabis products with names such as Calm, Create, Connect and Charge to major retailers including Med Men.

“I would say Apple is more of a down brand, it would be more Louis Vuitton, ” said Sedlin.

Neighboring business owners and employees have mixed reaction to having a cannabis business near them and were reluctant to be on camera.

Sedlin said he is ready to hire 30 employees if he receives project approval.

“We’ll have another thirty hired within the next year. I just think we understand the Santa Barbara community we know how to serve Santa Barbara residents and we have a best of class product, and that is the number one selling brand in California,” said Sedlin.

Canndescent is competing with Have a Heart, Farmacy SB, Golden State Greens, SGSB Inc. and Coastal Dispensary for 3 locations within the city limits.

Four of them have proposed State St. locations.

A public hearing is set for June 1 at 9:00 a.m. in the David Gebhard Public Meeting Room at the Community Development Building at 630 Garden Street.
