Paso Robles selects new fire chief

The City of Paso Robles has appointed a 4th generation north San Luis Obispo County resident to be its new fire chief.

Jonathan Stornetta was born and raised in Atascadero and is an Atascadero High School alum. He began his emergency services career in 1991. Stornetta joined the Paso Robles Fire Department in 2001 as a paramedic firefighter and has been the interim fire chief since October 2017.

“I was thoroughly impressed with everyone who participated in the selection process, by their professionalism, and by the City and community’s continued commitment to find the right person to lead the Department of Emergency Services,” said Stornetta. “I would not be here without the support of City staff, members of the Department of Emergency Services, and the community. I would like to thank former Fire Chief Ken Johnson and Phil Garcia for their continued support and mentorship. I am extremely grateful and honored to lead an organization with such great people.”

Stornetta was selected for the position after a competitive external recruitment process that included six different panels over two days.
