Bomb squad called to investigate suspicious package near Santa Barbara County Courthouse

A Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputy encountered a suspicions package Wednesday afternoon near the Santa Barbara County Courthouse.

Around 4 p.m., a white plastic United States Postal Service package was found during a security check of a driveway the sheriff’s department uses to transfer inmates to their appearances at the courthouse.

The bomb squad was called to investigate and the Santa Barbara Superior Court building was evacuated.

Several items of clothing were found inside the package. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says no explosive or dangerous items were found.
