Ventura police investigating shooting

The Ventura Police Department is investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital Friday night.

The shooting took place in the parking lot of Northbank Plaza on the 2800 block of Johnson Drive at around 7 p.m.

Officers responded to the area and found a 25-year-old man suffering from a life-threatening gun shot wound to the torso. The man was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

The suspect was last seen by witnesses fleeing the scene westbound on foot.

Officers and police dogs searched the area for the suspect.

The motive for the shooting is unclear at this time.
