Brush fire shuts down Highway 154 near Santa Barbara

Fire crews responded to a vegetation fire off of Highway 154 near Santa Barbara Saturday afternoon.

The fire sparked at around 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 154 and Painted Cave Road.

The Trout Fire moved up the hill, aided by moderate winds and quickly burned about two acres.

According to the California Highway Patrol, power lines in the area caught fire as flames approached the roadway.

Highway 154 was temporarily closed for a large stretch including Paradise Road and Painted Cave.

Los Padres National Forest and Santa Barbara County Fire responded to the Trout Incident. By Saturday evening the fire was considered to be “under control.”
