Hiker missing near Ojai located safely

Lisa Mathiasen, the 77-year-old woman from Bakersfield who was missing in the Mt. Pinos area, was located safely by Ventura County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue crews Monday morning.

Mathiasen was located at around 9 a.m. north of Inspiration Point. Rescue crews on foot were able to make contact with Mathiasen who had had fallen down the cliff and taken shelter in a ravine.

Mathiasen had been missing since Saturday afternoon after she failed to return from what was planned to a be a two-hour hike.

Rescuers were able to provide first aid to Mathiasen who was dehydrated but coherent.

Mathiasen suffered injuries in her fall and required a hoist rescue by a Ventura County helicopter.

Mathiasen was taken to a nearby hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Ojai Police, Fillmore Police, and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team all aided in the search for Mathiasen.
