Day three: CAL FIRE reports Hill Fire is at 75% containment

CAL FIRE officials say the Hill Fire is at 75% containment as of Wednesday evening and has burned just under 1,600 acres.

On day three of the fire, crews say they are working with favorable conditions. They say lack of heavy winds has helped crews get the upper hand on the fire.

The Hill Fire broke out on Monday afternoon along Park Hill Road east of Santa Margarita.

CAL FIRE officials say they are still investigating the cause of the fire but, are looking to see if a car fire could have started it.

As the number of fire crews start to scale back the damage the Hill Fire left behind becomes more visible.

Fire crews say they continue to assess the damage. Three structures have been burned in the fire. One of those structures includes the house of “Big Bang Theory” actor Johnny Galeki.

He plays Dr. Leonard Hofstadter on the popular CBS sitcom. Other well-known roles include “Rosanne” and “Christmas Vacation.”

The hillsides leading to his ranch home are blackened from the fire.

As of Wednesday, all residents affected by prior evacuations are able to go back to their homes. The area is not opened up yet to non-residents.

CAL FIRE officials say all road closures are lifted.
