Teen accused of shooting at ex-girlfriend’s dad’s home
An Oak View teen is accused of vandalizing property and shooting at his ex-girlfriend’s father’s home.
On June 19, 2017, Ojai detectives were called to investigate shots fired at a home in the 400 block of Larmier Avenue, in the unincorporated area of Ventura County. The resident reported to police someone had driven by and fired multiple shots into the victim’s home from the street and then fled the scene.
Detectives said the investigation led to the suspect Michael Silvar, 18, of Oak View. Silvar had been dating the victim’s daughter and was reportedly upset with the father for ending their relationship.
A day after the shooting Ojai Detectives interviewed Silvar, and alleged he confessed to shooting at the man’s home on two different occasions, with a .357 handgun. A bullet fragment was recovered from the home, and a loaded gun was taken from Silvar’s residence.
Detectives believe it is the same gun used in the shooting. Silvar also admitted to slashing the victim’s car tires with a knife, according to police.
Silvar was arrested and is facing a felony charge of discharging a firearm at an inhabited dwelling. His bail is set at $500,000 and remains in police custody at this time.
