Local reporter competes in Oxnard Salsa Festival competition for charity

The Oxnard Salsa Festival will include one of our own this year.

KEYT/KCOY/KKFX reporter Alys Martinez is participating in the festival’s “Dancing With Our Community Stars” competition.

She has to learn to salsa dance in in just a few weeks and perform a routine with her professional partner.

A big part of the competition is raising money for people in need.

Alys has chosen Santa Barbara based Dream Foundation as her charity.

Dream Foundation is a national organization that serves terminally ill adults and their families by granting end of life dreams.

“This organization never turns down a qualified applicant,” she said. “Dream Foundation is seeing a big increase in people reaching out to have their dreams fulfilled and it needs funds to help make that happen.”
