Transformer blows near Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital
A transformer exploded around 9:50 p.m. near Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, on the 500 block of West Pueblo Street.
SoCal Edison is on the scene. Police blocked off Pueblo Street in the immediate area to allow crews to safely work on the blown transformer. It’s unknown if hospital functions were affected by this incident.
Some early reports indicated there may have been a fire on a part of the hospital due to the blown transformer.
No injuries have been reported.
Some residents experienced a “brown out” when the transformer blew. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
