ADA-accessible boardwalk into Carpinteria State Beach nears completion

The California Conservation Corps is wrapping up its project building a boardwalk to take those using mobility devices or on foot up and over the sand dunes and onto Carpinteria State Beach.

What makes this boardwalk unique is that it’s just one of a few in the state constructed directly over sand dunes.

A 1,095-foot portion of the boardwalk is already completed. On Monday, crews will continue their work on the second segment of the boardwalk, installing decking, beams and joists.

Overall, the public will enjoy 1,720 feet of ADA-accessible walkway into the park just in time for summer crowds.

The boardwalk is expected to be open to the public on Memorial Day weekend.
