Electric tour boat launches in Santa Barbara Harbor

The first all electric tour boat launched from the Santa Barbara Harbor on Saturday.

Senior Reporter John Palminteri joined the ceremony to cut the ribbon and christen the boat with champagne.

Local company Celebration Cruises owns and operates the new vessel called Whisper.

Owners said the goal is to reduce the environmental impact of operating a tour boat, while offering an affordable boating experience to the community.

Captain Stephen Goularte said the 100% electric zero emissions boat will offer harbor cruises in Santa Barbara.
“It’s a 22 foot duffy. You see them in harbors in Newport and Oxnard,” Goularte said.

To celebrate the christening, Goularte took the public for free rides on Whisper.

Celebration Cruises also operates the Lil Toot water taxi and the Azure Seas yacht.
