Police searching for suspect that stabbed a Ventura security guard

A security guard is recovering from a stab wound he received to the abdomen while investigating a strange noise at the fence line of a property located at 250 S. Mills Road.

Ventura police say that as the victim, Timothy Hernandez, entered a homeless encampment at the edge of the property, he was stabbed by an unknown object.

The stabbing happened just before 2 a.m. on Friday.

Police believe the suspect was a transient, and although no detailed description of the male suspect is known, police say he may be between 25-35 years old.

Hernandez was taken to Ventura County Medical Center and was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Ventura police, assisted by the California Highway Patrol, set up a perimeter around the crime scene. A Ventura police K-9 unit searched for the suspect for several blocks but was unable to locate him.

Anyone with any information regarding this crime is asked to call the Ventura Police Department at 805-650-8010.
