Oxnard woman arrested in Port Hueneme hit-and-run

Port Hueneme police arrested 36-year-old Melissa Webster of Oxnard after a week-long investigation into a May 12 hit-and-run that left a pedestrian fighting for his life.

Authorities said Webster turned herself in on May 18 to Port Hueneme police and was subsequently booked and charged with felony hit-and-run.

Police said the victim, 36-year-old Port Hueneme resident Jonathan Hill, and Webster were in a relationship they described as “sating” and had a 2-year-old child in common.

Investigators said that on May 12 at about 8:15 p.m., officers responded to Port Hueneme City Hall for a report of a pedestrian struck by an RV. Witnesses said the RV drove away after the collision and police later found that vehicle abandoned nearby.

Witnesses told police they saw a woman walking away from the RV holding a small child.

Hill remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Ventura County Medical Center but now police say he’s listed in stable condition.

Webster was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail with bail set at $50,000.
