Polo season underway at Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club
After rain delayed the opening last weekend, The Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club launched its 2017 season on Sunday with all of the glamour you would expect.
Women and men dressed the part, and socialized with friends in the stands.
The grounds have been around for 103 years.
“If these grounds could talk,” said General Manager David Sigman.
Sigman said the club and the sport is open to everyone in the community.
“One of the things we are really trying to do this year is make sure everyone in Santa Barbara County and
Ventura County knows that this is ‘your polo club’. Come out and come see what we do here. It’s fantastic,” he said.
Santa Barbara resident Michelle Ruggles brought her kids Josie and Ozzie to opening day.
“It’s something different and fun to do for the kids, for the whole family,” Ruggles said. “This is the second time we’ve come and each time, everybody has been so welcoming.”
The season lasts until mid-October and ticket prices start as low as $10.
