Santa Paula man arrested for stabbing woman with kitchen knife

A Santa Paula man was arrested after police say he stabbed a 52-year-old woman with a kitchen knife.

Charles Galarza, 21, was arrested Wednesday night after police arrived at a home on the 800 block of East Pleasant Street.

Police arrived and located Galarza on scene. He was arrested without incident.

A 52-year-old woman suffering from life-threatening stab wounds was taken to a Santa Paula emergency room.

Police determined that Galarza stabbed the woman with a kitchen knife for unknown reasons before family members could intervene. Family members held Galarza until police could arrive.

Galarza was arrested and transported to Ventura County Main Jail on a $1 million bond.

The victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center in critical condition.

Galarza could face charges for attempted murder.
