Operation Clean Sweep removes junk from Santa Barbara Harbor

Volunteers dove into the waters of Santa Barbara Harbor to remove discarded junk and debris that sunk to the harbor floor over the last year.

Operation Clean Sweep is an annual event that helps maintain the beauty of the Santa Barbara Harbor and keep the floor clear of dangerous items.

Dozens of volunteer divers and dock workers removed and collected rusted crab and lobster cages, electronics and even an entire skiff boat.

The sweep has brought over 17 tons of debris up from the harbor floor in its 11 years.
