Los Angeles City Attorney speaks at gun violence event in Santa Barbara
Gun laws and violence were the topic at a special event in Santa Barbara on Sunday.
The Santa Barbara Coalition Against Gun Violence held its 22 nd anniversary celebration and fundraiser at the Santa Barbara Club.
Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer was the keynote speaker. Feuer wrote a number of ordinances and created new programs to combat violence in his city.
On Sunday Feuer spoke about proposed gun laws which could impact all of California.
“There are some laws pending in Washington that would in fact make our country more dangerous,” Feuer said. “I was on Capitol Hill last week urging both Senators and Congress to oppose, among other things, a law proposed to require every state to recognize every other state’s concealed weapons permit laws.”
Members of the Santa Barbara City Council and former United States Congresswoman Lois Capps were in attendance.
